Prednisone taper, will I be okay?
Prescribed a short term high dose of Prednisone for poison ivy. First is how it was prescribed, second is how I am actually taking it.
Prescription: 40mg X 4days…. 30 mg X 4days…. 20 mg X4days…….10 mg X3days.
How I am taking it
day 1 30 mg
day 2 40 mg
day 3 40 mg
day4 30 mg
day 5 20 mg
day 6 15 mg
day7 10 mg
day8 5 mg
day9 5mg
Done.
Will this work? The reason? I can’t stand this medication, panic attacks bad. So I shortened the duration. Will this tapper cause bad side affects?
hello ,tapering is mandatory to avoid shock ,,the high dose u got initially has stopped your normal axis flow of cortisone ,sudden withdraw is dangerous ,taper it as prescribed and u will be fine and its only for 9 days ,to avoid shock and more problems
